Senior Police Officer 3 Eric O. Ambojia, case investigator, identified the fatality as Roberto Dulay de la Pena, 50, and the injured as Christopher Villaceran Abello, 43, and a certain “Marlon,” all residents of Valenzuela City.

The victims, all construction workers from Hanay Enterprises in Barangay Lalaan I, Silang, were on board the firm’s Toyota Hilux pick-up (UMC 266) when it crashed into the narra tree on the side of Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay Tubuan II, Silang.

The accident happened as the workers were on the way to their barracks after a drinking spree, SPO3 Ambojia said.

The municipal rescue team that responded to the scene took the victims to the Silang Specialist Medical Center, but Dela Peña, who was the driver of the pick-up, was declared dead by the attending physician.

It was the seventh fatal vehicular accident recorded by the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) this year.

PPO records showed these were mostly “self-accidents” in which vehicles – mostly motorcycles – hit posts, barriers, trees or concrete fences along curves or at nighttime.
