“This is our strategic initiative to help move the country forward through the creation of a robust pool of highly skilled, dedicated professionals who can meet and even exceed the demands of the dynamic energy industry ,” said Jose Maria K. Lim, GBP’s chairman of the board.

The GBP Institute for Energy (GIE) is the learning hub for all GBP workers from its 11 power generation facilities in Panay, Mindoro and Cebu.

GEI features the Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler simulator, which aids in optimizing operations of coal-fired power plants. The simulator enables employees to conduct hands-on study of real-life situations such as emergencies that require critical decision making while improving operational and maintenance contingencies.

“GIE also helps promote operational efficiency through better understanding of the clean technology,” added GBP President Jaime T. Azurin

GEI is located within the same complex of GBP’s two subsidiaries Panay Energy Development Corp. (PEDC) and Panay Power Corp. (PPC). PEDC operates the 314-megawatt (314-MW) of coal-fired power while PPC operates the 72-MW diesel plant.
