Malacañang stood by the decision of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to veto House Bill 7575, saying the Chief Executive’s move was within the bounds of the Constitution.

Finance Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno said the proposed Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport had carried substantial fiscal risks to the government.

Incoming Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri assured today July 4 that the Senate would try give priority to correcting deficiencies pointed out by Malacanang on the vetoed Bulacan airport and economic zone bill.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will fully support the bill to create the Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport once Congress fixes the “defects” in the proposed measure, Malacañang said.

Incoming Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri tonight (July 2) said the veto by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr, of the Bulacan Airport Special Economic Zone and Freeport bill is “unfortunate.”

Malacañang clarified that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. fully supports the creation of the Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport, and his decision to veto the proposed measure was to cure the defects found in it.

Senator Joel Villanueva on Sunday, July 3 joined other lawmakers in saying that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s decisioin to veto the proposed Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport as “unfortunate” but vowed to re-file the measure in the 19th Congress.

Senator Imee Marcos said she doesn’t take it personally when President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. decided to veto the bill that would have established the Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport.

Citing “substantial fiscal risks,” President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. used his veto power for the first time to thumb down the proposed bill creating the Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport.
