‘Sa awa ng Diyos’: Duterte grateful to God for decline in COVID-19 cases

President Duterte heaved a sigh of relief late Monday night, Oct. 25, following the continued decline in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.

“We thank God,” Duterte said in his pre-recorded public address.

The Chief Executive noted that the Department of Health’s (DOH) three-day tally of new COVID-19 cases went down to the 5,000-level as of Oct. 23.

Galvez says administration of booster shots to priority groups may start in November

The administration of booster shots of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines to healthcare workers, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities will likely begin next month.

This was the estimate given by Sec. Carlito Galvez JR., vaccine czar and chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19, during a public address of President Duterte on Monday night, Oct. 26.

DOH assures PH’s vaccine supply sufficient for boosters, 3rd dose

The Department of Health (DOH) said there will be enough supply of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines in the Philippines once the government starts the implementation of giving booster doses and additional shots to certain groups of the population.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said millions of vaccine doses are expected to be delivered in the country within this year.

“Actually, ang ating vaccine cluster has already announced itong mga parating na bakuna dito sa ating bansa. So starting this November, meron po tayong inaasahan na almost 20 to 25 million doses pa (Actually, our vaccine cluster has already announced these additional vaccines for our country. So starting this November, we expect about 20 to 25 million more doses),” said Vergeire in a television interview on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

PH ranks 111th in COVID-19 case fatality rate worldwide

The Philippines ranked 111th among countries worldwide in terms of case fatality rate of individuals infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19), data from the World Health Organization (WHO) showed.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Enrique Domingo reported this latest development citing the WHO world rankings of countries based on data as of Oct. 25.
