Ethics in business is the moral compass that guides a company’s public behavior, and protect the company’s brand and reputation. Ethics has both bottom-line and moral implications. Establishing customer trust and winning investor confidence are built on ethical foundations.  

Exemplars in government service

     The death of Rene Saguisag recently drew many accolades for the man's legendary honesty and his zeal to defend the rights of the poor and the oppressed. His former staff in the Senate glowingly wrote, “how in the putrid morass of Filipino politics, there was this man who remained unsullied by filthy lucre, and unimpressed by  fleeting fame . . . and insisted on returning gifts sent to our office including gallons of ice cream which were brought to the astonished donor, in completely melted state.”

The bloated government bureaucracy

Decades ago, in high school, I could count the department secretaries reporting to the President by my fingers. I had no problem naming them in our current events test. Now, we have twenty, excluding the Executive Secretary, the vice president, and 30 government agencies.
