Car driver arrested after causing multi-vehicle crash in QC


The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested the driver of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) involved in a multi-vehicle crash along Commonwealth Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, April 8.

Authorities identified the driver as Edgardo Binoya, 68, a resident of Makati City.

According to the police report, the suspect was driving a Toyota Fortuner when it initially collided with a stationary Toyota Hi-Ace van.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle moved backward, then accelerated forward and collided again with the van.

Due to the impact, the van moved forward and collided with a parked Mitsubishi L300 FB van and a sedan.

The SUV moved backward towards Metro Oil Gas station and crashed into a pump island with a bollard.

No physical injuries were reported, but all vehicles and gas station properties were severely damaged.

Patrolling policemen from Fairview Police Station 5 immediately responded.

"The suspect is now in police custody and we are preparing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property. Paalala din po sa ating mga motorista na siguruhing nasa maayos na condition pag nagmamaneho. Road safety begins with personal responsibility, your alertness and well-being can save lives,” QCPD chief Police Brig. Gen. Melecio Buslig Jr. said.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
