The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has distributed P13.2 million in cash assistance to 3,128 displaced and informal workers in Camarines Sur during a recent aid payout activity.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the distribution ceremony at the Fuerte Camarines Sur Sports Complex in Pili under the “Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan sa Bagong Pilipinas” initiative, which aims to provide livelihood and health services nationwide.
DOLE said the financial aid supports short-term employment for vulnerable workers and forms part of the government’s sustained efforts to promote economic recovery in communities.
The payout was facilitated through DOLE’s emergency employment program, in coordination with local government units and regional offices.
DOLE Bicol Regional Director Imelda F. Gatinao said the assistance was released under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, which allows beneficiaries to earn income through community-based work.
A job fair was also conducted by DOLE and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, offering more than 2,000 employment opportunities from participating employers.
The event recorded 26 applicants hired on the spot, 26 listed as near-hires, and 74 qualified for further interviews and evaluation.
Various government agencies, including the NBI, BIR, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, SSS, TESDA, and PSA, also provided services through a one-stop shop, offering livelihood support, employment facilitation, and free medical consultations to attendees.
