However, the OVP also said that the official is expected to return to the country because she will attend the Araw ng Dabaw festivities this week.

On Saturday, March 8, social media posts showed that former president Rodrigo Duterte and her longtime aide, Senator Bong Go, were seen boarding a Cathay Pacific flight.

His former chief presidential legal counsel, Salvador Panelo, then belied reports that the former president fled to avoid the warrant of arrest allegedly to be handed down soon by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Instead, he confirmed that the former president will attend a thanksgiving event for the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai, was entitled “Pasasalamat kay PRRD with OFWS.”

A poster of the said event showed a photo of the elder Duterte with his daughter, as well as Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy, Go, Senator Bato Dela Rosa, SAGIP Partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, actor Philip Salvador, and lawyer Vic Rodriguez.

The event will be livestreamed in various places in the National Capital Region (NCR), Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the Davao Region.
