The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has opened its first Prime Phygital branch in Mindanao, reaffirming its commitment to delivering innovative and convenient banking experiences to clients in the region.
Strategically located at Azuela Cove in Lanang, Davao City, a 25-hectare development envisioned as a premier waterside business and residential district, the new branch showcases BPI’s blend of digital innovation and personalized service.
BPI Prime Phygital branches feature exclusive lounges for preferred clients and offer dedicated Concierge and Quick Transact staff. The Concierge manages the lobby and assists the clients with their transactions, while the Quick Transact staff guides customers in completing transactions digitally.
“A phygital bank combines the convenience of digital banking with the personalized service of physical branches to create a seamless and enhanced customer experience,” said Dennis Fronda, BPI Branch Stores Channel Head.
BPI first introduced Phygital Banking in 2023, integrating the best of digital and physical banking to better serve clients.
Ma. Cristina “Ginbee” Go, BPI Consumer Banking Head, emphasized the bank’s continuous drive to provide innovative and sustainable banking solutions.
“As our customers go more digital, we’re transforming our branches into centers of personalized financial guidance. By combining our digital strength with the expertise of our financial advisors, we help clients grow their wealth and achieve financial wellness. Our phygital approach allows us to focus on understanding their unique needs and providing holistic solutions for their life goals,” she said.
BPI currently operates 55 phygital, 13 prime phygital, and 2 flagship branches nationwide. Seventeen of these phygital branches have been certified by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as EDGE-certified Green Bank Branches. The EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification recognizes buildings that achieve at least 20% savings in energy, water, and embodied energy-efficient materials, showcasing BPI's dedication to reducing its ecological footprint.
BPI plans to open 25 more phygital branches and convert the remaining branches in the next 5 years as part of its strategic efforts to provide smarter and more accessible banking options for Filipinos.
