The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is reminding taxpayers to file and pay their 2024 income tax returns (ITR) by the April 15, 2025 deadline to prevent incurring penalties.

In a statement on Friday, March 28, BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr. said that adhering to the deadline is important to ensure a smooth tax filing experience.

The BIR has mandated electronic filing for the 2024 Annual Income Tax Return (AITR), utilizing platforms like Electronic BIR Forms (eBIRForms) and the Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS) for those required to use it.

For taxpayers lacking internet access, Revenue District Offices (RDOs) will provide eLounge facilities with assistance for e-filing.

Additionally, a dedicated Electronic Filing/Tax Assistance Center will operate at the BIR National Training Center (NTC) Auditorium in Quezon City from March 24 to April 15, 2025, excluding Sundays and holidays, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

"The BIR is committed to making tax filing and payment more convenient by ensuring that our e-Filing Center and RDOs’ eLounges are available to assist taxpayers every step of the way,” Lumagui said.

He added that early filing and same-day payment of income tax through electronic services and various payment channels such as Authorized Agent Banks, Revenue Collection Officers (RCOs), MAYA, GCash, and MYEG are encouraged.

To facilitate payments, Authorized Agent Banks will extend their hours until 5:00 PM from April 1 to April 15, 2025, and operate on two Saturdays, April 5 and April 12, 2025.

"Our goal is to make tax compliance easier and hassle-free for our taxpayers. We will continue to enhance our services and exert more efforts to achieve that," Lumagui noted. The BIR aims to streamline the tax filing process and provide comprehensive support to all taxpayers during this period.

Meanwhile, the BIR also reported that its official website, www.bir.gov.ph, achieved 50 million visits in just eight months, demonstrating the public's increasing reliance on its digital services and streamlined information access.

Lumagui noted that the website reached this milestone in March 2025, following its August 2024 launch.

The enhanced website offers a user-friendly interface with a consolidated eServices Tab, providing taxpayers with easy access to online services and platforms.

It also features the BIR Citizen's Charter, BIR Forms, revenue issuances, zonal values, news, announcements, tax calendars, and taxpayer guides.

Lumagui said the website's enhancement reflects the BIR's commitment to improving taxpayer experience through digital innovation. He added that the 50 million visits indicate taxpayer trust in the BIR's online services.

He further said that the website simplifies tax compliance by consolidating necessary resources.

The BIR noted that the website supports its digitalization efforts and promotes voluntary compliance and transparency within the tax system.
