HONOR is making big moves. Recently they have launched the HONOR X9c and the X9c Smart smartphones that are durable and can withstand high temperatures.
So, to give a quick glimpse in how HONOR develops these innovations, they have opened their doors to offer a look of their General Innovation Laboratory, where all the tech magic happens.
The laboratory supports HONOR’s thousands of coded device admission test systems, from tiny passive devices (including resistor, capacitor, inductor, third-generation semiconductor tubes, crystal oscillators) to hundreds of watts of power ICs, etc., with the industry's most advanced batch certification capabilities (10thousand level), full-parameter full-environment testing capabilities, and covers device materials, device technology, device design simulation and other fields of capabilities, with device life cycle reliability assessment and failure analysis methods.
Currently, HONOR cooperates with Japan Research Institute on inductor materials to enhance the competitiveness of inductors from powder raw materials, powder processing, inductance structure and other aspects; the second is process analysis capabilities. At present, capacitors, inductors, MOS, LEDs have device simulation capabilities. On Magic V2 mobile phones, there are devices that we guide suppliers to design and develop. The device height has been reduced from 0.8mm to 0.65mm, and the complete-built unit has obtained a thinning gain of 0.15mm.
MEMS accelerometers, IMUs and Other Inertial Devices Access Certification Laboratory
The second laboratory is for performance testing, calibration, failure analysis and related algorithm validation. Honor has industry-leading aerospace-grade inertial device testing capabilities, including high-range, high-precision 3-axis rotary table, The equipment performance reaches the space level, and covers the current and next 10 years of consumer inertial device testing needs.
HONOR also has an ultra-high frequency vibration exciter and is also the only terminal company with this testing capability. Furthermore, we also built the industry's first powered batch testing platform for MEMS inertial devices, to achieve device performance verification under terminal-like working conditions.
Audio Laboratory HI-FI Laboratory
The HIFI Laboratory is a subjective effect experience area with an 11.2-channel stereo media playback capability, providing a benchmark environment for the audio experience design, we evaluate audio effect in this room.
- Anechoic chamber - This chamber is used to test the voice quality of calls. We can simulate many kinds of real-life noise in this chamber, to test the noise reduction performance of mobile phones, and ensure that users have clear conversation by using our mobile phones in any environment.
- Safety Testing - To protect the user's hearing, the volume of the device should be less than a certain limit, we test the headphone’s loudness in this room, to ensure that our products meet the safety requirement.
- Smart Accessories - Like the anechoic chamber but mainly used for the acoustic performance testing of headphone products. It also has the capability to measure basic acoustic parameters and noise playback.
- Recording and Video - Mainly used for directional testing of recording and video. The monitoring speakers are controlled by a computer to produce sound, and the mobile phone records it. After generating audio and video files, post-processing analysis is conducted. The turntable is used to evaluate the mobile phone's sound reception performance from different directions.
- Intelligent Wake Up Lab - The speakers around the artificial head playback different kinds of noise to simulate different environment sound such as crossroad, train station, office room, restaurant etc. the artificial head simulates different people saying wake up words, so we can test the wake up success rate and false acceptance rate in this lab.
- Wind Lab - In this lab we can simulate up to level 7 wind and we evaluate the wind noise cancellation effect of the device.
Antenna Laboratory
In a cell phone, there are many antennas, such as cellular antenna LTE and SA, WiFi, GPS, BT and so on. At HONOR, they use specialized chambers to test the antenna, for example, a shielded room, the outside is metal plate; the inside is special material, it can absorb signals. Signal is not reflected in the chamber. The cellphone is in the center of the chamber. We can calculate the performance of the cellphone antenna by base station.
We have head and hand models that simulate free space, head-hand mode, one-hand mode, including two hands mode. The chamber meets CTIA test standards, it can meet the requirements of different customers around the world.
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Lab
There are so many antennas in a single smartphone, the human body can absorb the signal, so we are also concerned about radiation safety, absorbing too much is harmful to our body. HONOR devices meet CE and FCC test standards, including China standards.
