
A three-year-old boy reportedly died while four others were injured in a huge fire that hit a residential area on J.P. Rizal street in Barangay Namayan, Mandaluyong City on Monday morning, March 24.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the body of the boy was found on the 2nd floor of a lechon store which was being used as living quarters for the workers.
One of the store's staff said the child was left alone inside the room when the blaze started. The boy's father was slaughtering pigs when the fire broke out.
Meanwhile, the four injured individuals sustained 2nd degree burns, lacerations, and concussion injuries during the blaze. They are now all in stable condition.
Aside from the living quarters, the fire also destroyed the store's stockroom and a nearby junk shop.
It added that the blaze started at around 6:38 a.m. and has reached the 2nd alarm at 6:40 a.m.
Firefighters declared fire under control at 8:18 a.m.
Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and amount of damage to property.
