Aklan 2nd district Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr. Is offering a P100,000 reward for any information that would help authorities solve the brutal murder of a 23-year-old Slovakian tourist in Boracay.

The gravity of the crime was not lost on the congressman, who like most Filipinos took pride in having a world-famous tourist destination like Boracay.

But the incident has cast a dark shadow over the white-sand beach in his province.

“This is a devastating blow to our tourism industry,” Haresco said in a statement Tuesday, March 18, referring to the alleged rape-slay of Michaela Mickova.

In offering the reward money, the veteran lawmaker said: “We must act swiftly and decisively to address this issue and restore public trust. We need to reassure tourists that Boracay is a safe place."

"We will do everything in our power together with our local officials in Boracay and Malay and national agencies concerned to prevent such incidents from happening again," he said.

The Aklan congressman met with law enforcement officials over the weekend to get updates on the investigation.

Mickova was discovered inside an abandoned chapel of Zone 3 in Barangay Balabag in Malay town at around 2 p.m. on March 12--two days after she was reported missing by a Filipina friend.

The foreigner reportedly went to Boracay to attend a Filipina friend’s wedding. The body was already in the state of decomposition.

Police are looking at two persons of interest and are investigating a possible third suspect. They are awaiting the official Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) report, including DNA results from evidence collected at the crime scene.

Haresco expressed his commitment to working closely and extending financial assistance to law enforcement in Boracay to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
