There's a good chance that former president Rodrigo Duterte will spend his 80th birthday on March 28 while in detention at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague in the Netherlands.

Knowing this, House Assistant Majority Leader Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre gave an advance birthday message for the detained ex-president.

"Well, we wish him the best of health," Acidre said in a press conference Wednesday, March 12.

He added: "I think any of the meaningful person would want the former president healthy, wherever his mind and heart [are] right now. I hope these things would be something he would find peace in as he celebrates his 80th birthday."

The the United Nations (UN)-backed ICC has been looking into Duterte's bloody campaign against illegal drugs since 2017, or when a group led by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV filed a charge of crimes against humanity.

Zambales 1st district Rep. Jay Khonghun and Manila 1st district Rep. Ernix Dionisio also gave their advance birthday wishes for Duterte in a virtual press conference Thursday, March 13.

Khonghun wished Duterte "good health", primary so that the latter would have the strength to face his current predicament.

Dionisio, on the other hand, said he wished that God would give Duterte the proper spiritual guidance.

On Tuesday morning, members of the International Police (Interpol) served an arrest warrant against Duterte in Manila. The 79-year-old was flown to Netherlands on board a chartered plane before the day was over.

His children Vice President Sara Duterte and Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte have also since flown to The Hague on their own accord.
