“We’ve been having some problem getting to fighting form at the start of matches here, we’re not used to cold playing conditions,” said coach Ronald Premaylon.

“It was disappointing to drop the first set, but I had no doubt they would raise their game after the difficult start,” Premaylon added.

Ike Andrew Barelia, 20, came up with a match-leading 30 points, 29 off attacks plus a service ace, as One Silay completed the win in an hour and 48 minutes.

Vin Mark Canoy, 19, added 17 markers in the tournament organized by the PNVF headed by Ramon “Tats” Suzara.

“I’m very happy with out performance this week because we were able to execute our plans,” Premaylon said.

Sixteen-year-old Michael Angelo Fernandez had 18 points, while Milson Janrey Galzote, 20, had 17 points for Umingan VC, which looked determined to force a decider and led 4-1 in the fourth set but One Silay quickly recovered to take a 5-7 advantage on the way to a podium spot in the tournament backed by Akari, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Meralco, PLDT, Smart, AyalaLand, Nuvali, Mikasa, Senoh, Asics, Rebisco, Cignal, OneSports, OneSports+ and Pilipinas Live.
