A total of P7,800,000 worth of fully grown marijuana plants were destroyed in two plantation sites during the two-day operation in Bakun, Benguet, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Saturday, Feb. 15.
During the Feb. 12 to 13 eradication operation, government anti-narcotics authorities uprooted and burned a total of 39,000 marijuana plants.
On the initial day of the operation, a plantation site where 24,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants valued at P4,800,000 were set on fire and fully-burned.
Upon further search the following day, the operatives discovered another plantation site and immediately destroyed 15,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P3,000,000.
In a statement, the PDEA assured that no marijuana plant was left unburned as all of the 39,000 were destroyed.
However, the PDEA-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Bakun Municipal Police Station personnel failed to apprehend any cultivators or their cohorts in the twin operations.
