Jealous man stabs wife in Cebu

CEBU CITY — A 42-year-old woman was severely injured after she was repeatedly stabbed by her husband inside their house in Barangay Calionhan, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.

Police said jealousy drove Leon Amancio, 48, to attack his wife, Nela, past 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The victim suffered at least six stab wounds in the body. She was taken to the town hospital but transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City due the severity of her injuries.

Police Major Vincent Zozobrado, chief of the Dalaguete Police Station, the victim was sweeping their backyard when her husband arrived.

Nela saw her husband and ran inside their house but he followed her there.

She locked the door of their house but the suspect forcibly opened it and  got inside. The suspect took a knife and repeatedly stabbed his wife in front of their family, police said.

The suspect fled after the incident.

The wife described her husband as a jealous partner.

In  December last year, she filed a complaint for psychological abuse against him for his rowdy behavior caused by jealousy.

The victim  repeatedly denied her husband’s suspicion that she was having an affair with another man.

Police said a charge for frustrated parricide will be filed against the suspect.
