Japan, EU look forward to stronger ties with PH this year


The ambassadors of Japan and the European Union in the Philippines expressed their hopes for stronger relations in 2025.

The ambassadors of Japan and the European Union in the Philippines expressed their hopes for stronger relations in 2025.

Posting separately on X (formerly Twitter) their New Year’s greetings, Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya and European Union Ambassador Massimo Santoro said they wish for “prosperity and good health” for all this year.

Endo's post was accompanied by a photo with the words “Happy New Year” in Filipino.

“As we welcome the new year, I look forward to building on the strong foundation we’ve laid & reaching more milestones this 2025. May this new chapter usher in fresh opportunities and bring prosperity & good health for all,” he wrote.

Santoro also took to X to wish Filipinos a Happy New Year in Filipino.

“Looking forward to a very fruitful year for (EU-Philippines) cooperation, with many contributions to peace and prosperity for all,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Embassy in Manila also expressed hopes for a better year for both countries’ relations.

“As we welcome 2025, we wish you hope, joy, and prosperity. Here's to strengthening the friendship between Aotearoa New Zealand and the Philippines and building on our shared successes,” the post, which was also shared by New Zealand Ambassador Catherine McIntosh, read.

The ambassadors of the United States and France had earlier greeted Filipinos in their respective X posts.

“The US-Philippine relationship is #OnHyperdrive, and we look forward to stronger and closer ties in 2025,” Ambassador MaryKay L. Carlson wrote on X.
