Police identified the fatality as Jefferson Alloso, driver of the owner-type jeep owned by Cebu Electric Coopertaive Inc. (Cebeco) III. Injured was 29-year-old Bryan Villahermosa, an electrician of the company.

Also aboard the truck was Villahermosa’s fellow electrician Christian Gentapa, 33, and Arnel Arnaiz, the barangay captain of Lanao, Asturias. Gentapa and Arnaiz escaped unscathed.

Police Senior Master Sgt. Bendie Nuñez, investigator of the Asturias Police Station, said the incident happened while the group was surveying an area as part of the plan to install power lines in the barangay.

Alloso was negotiating an uphill portion of a road when the vehicle’s front wheel skidded on a slippery part of the road.

Alloso lost control of the wheel and the vehicle plunged into a 10-foot deep cliff. The driver was pinned by the vehicle.

Arnaiz and Gentapa avoided injury after they jumped just before the vehicle went down the cliff.

Police said the road where they passed was slippery because of rain. It took time before the victims were rescued because of the remote location.
