DSWD to provide up to P5,000 cash aid to 4Ps members hired on-site at job fair

Qualified members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who secure employment or are hired on the spot during the rollout of the “Trabaho Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” job fair at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila on Friday, Jan. 31, will receive cash aid, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“Those who are hired on the spot will be oriented on the criteria and eligibility required to qualify for employment assistance under the SLP [Sustainable Livelihood Program],” DSWD Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Irene Dumlao said in a statement. “Our team will conduct the validation and intake during the kick-off,” she added.

DSWD explained that the “Trabaho Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” job fair is exclusive to graduating 4Ps members and will be a joint undertaking of the DSWD, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and other government agencies.

Sustainable livelihood program

DSWD explained that the SLP is a “capacity-building program” of the DSWD that aims to help vulnerable, disadvantaged, and marginalized households and communities improve their socio-economic conditions by providing them with opportunities to access and acquire livelihood assets.

The program operates in two tracks, which include the Employment Facilitation (EF) Track and the Micro-Enterprise Development (MD) Track, according to DSWD.

“The EF track, which we will offer to graduating 4Ps members during the job fair, provides assistance to qualified members of poor households who prefer employment over engaging in microenterprise,” Dumlao explained.

DSWD explained that under the EF track, beneficiaries may receive up to P5,000 in financial aid.

Dumlao explained that the 4Ps beneficiaries are still “subject to the assessment and approval” of SLP personnel.

After the validation and intake, Dumlao said “all applications will be processed” by DSWD’s Field Office – National Capital Region (NCR).

Dumlao noted that qualified applicants will be notified by DSWD FO – NCR and will be informed of the date for the cash assistance payout.

The MD track, on the other hand, focuses on the “establishment of microenterprises through the provision of financial capital, enhancement of skills, and building/rebuilding physical and natural assets.”
