A 31-year-old man was arrested during an anti-criminality operation conducted by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) along Gen. Luis Street near Damong Maliit Road, Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Quezon City, on Friday, Jan. 3.
Police recovered 54 grams of shabu worth P367,200.
Authorities also seized 139 pieces of fake P1,000 bills and a .45 caliber Armscor pistol with five live ammunition.
The suspect, identified as Nomer Atanacio, a resident of Barangay Gulod, Novaliches, was apprehended by members of the Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) during an “Oplan Sita” operation at around 8:20 p.m.
Atanacio was initially flagged down for not wearing a helmet but attempted to flee, leading to a brief chase. He was eventually arrested despite resisting the authorities.

Atanacio will face multiple charges, including violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), Republic Act 10054 (Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009), Article 168 of the Revised Penal Code (Possession of False Bank Notes), and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority).
QCPD Chief Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. commended the swift action of the PS 4 operatives.
“Patuloy ang ating mga operasyon upang labanan ang kriminalidad, lalo na ang ipinagbabawal na droga at tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng bawat komunidad. Hindi natin palalagpasin ang sinumang lumalabag sa batas (Our operations to combat criminality, especially illegal drugs, and to ensure the safety of every community continue. We will not tolerate anyone who violates the law),” he said.
