Kabankalan City aids LGUs affected by Kanlaon eruption


BACOLOD CITY – The Kabankalan City government has provided a total of P1 million in financial assistance to four local government units in Negros Occidental affected by the Dec. 9, 2024 eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.

Kabankalan Mayor Benjie Miranda turned over P400,000 to La Castellana town and P200,000 each to Moises Padilla town and the cities of Bago and La Carlota.

Miranda said that it is the city’s way to thank these LGUs for supporting Kabankalan when it was hit by a typhoon a few years back.

Checks were received by La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalando-on, and Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo on Jan. 22.

The local chief executives thanked Kabankalan City for its support.

Miranda also said that the city is ready to accommodate evacuees from La Castellana town in case of an eruption and specific area has been designated for them.
