P2.28-M marijuana recovered in Tabuk City cemetery


Police recovered 19 marijuana bricks valued at P2.28 million in a cemetery in Sitio Ileb, Nambaran, Tabuk City, Kalinga on Sunday, Jan. 26.

Police Col. James Mangili, Kalinga police chief, said the contraband placed in a sack was discovered by the Tabuk City police station headed by Police Lt. Col. Benson B. Macli-ing following a report from a concerned citizen.

“The onsite marking and inventory of the recovered items were conducted under the supervision of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and media representatives and one barangay kagawad of Nambaran,” said Mangili.

“The recovered evidence was transported to Tabuk City police station for proper documentation and subsequently forwarded to the Kalinga Police Forensic Unit for laboratory examination,” he added.

Mangili said they are identifying the owner of the contraband.

A kilo of marijuana is valued at P120,000 per the Dangerous Drug Board.
