TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Authorities torched marijuana valued at P42.3 million during eradication operations under “Oplan: Ganja 2” in the town of Tinglayan in Kalinga province from Jan. 22 to 24.
Police Col. James Mangili, Kalinga police chief, said 73,500 fully grown marijuana plants in a plantation with a total land area of 3,950-square meters and standard drug price of P14.7 million were uprooted.
Mangili also said that 230 kilograms of dried marijuana and stalks worth P27.6 million were destroyed in two other plantations in the area.
These were burned on-site and samples were collected and sent to the Kalinga Forensic Unit for qualitative examination.
Mangili commended operating units for a job well done. “Despite not apprehending any cultivators, this operation underscores our continued commitment to eradicating illegal drugs and safeguarding our community,” he said.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation to identify cultivators.
