PH bowlers reach podium at 2025 IBF Para Bowling World Championships

The Philippines bagged a couple of bronze medals at the 2025 International Bowling Federation Para Bowling World Championships in Hong Kong on Thursday, January 23.
The duo of Samuel Matias and Kim Ian Chi finished third in the TPB10 Men’s Doubles (bowling athletes without a lower limb) after finishing with a total score of 2,359. Matias and Chi had combined scores of 427, 394, 370, 403, 385 and 380.
Thailand copped the gold after amassing a total score of 2,441. Hong Kong settled for the silver with a score of 2,423.
The other bronze came courtesy of the team of Jaime Manginga and Augusto Hernandez in the TPB8 Men’s Doubles (wheelchair bowling athletes). Manginga and Hernandez finished their series with a total score of 1,959 pins. They had combined scores of 287, 337, 294, 321, 367 and 353.
PH coach George Manozo admitted that it was a sigh of relief that the Filipino bowlers were able to pull through despite the tough field in the competition.
“Powerhouse ang teams. Buti nakalusot from behind,” Manozo said.
George Holscher and David Nelson Jr. of Team USA took the gold medal after finishing with a score of 2,214 pins. The Thailand tandem of Pongsakorn Chumchai and Suphan Sinthusuwan took the silver with a score of 2,040.
