Chiang Mai City in Thailand is still No. 1 with a 76.5 safety index and Singapore was second also with 76.5.

Fourth was Penang in Malaysia with 68.7, followed by Hanoi in Vietnam with 64.

Makati City, Bangkok, Thailand; Iloilo City, Pattaya, Thailand; Johor Bahru in Malaysia; Cebu City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Jakarta, Indonesia; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Manila, ranked fifth to 16th, respectively.

Davao City was second with a safety index of 72.4 in 2023. In 2022, this city was also third with 71.6.

The safety index evaluates the overall crime rates, police efficiency, and residents’ perceptions of safety in a city or country. To maintain statistical accuracy, the cities are chosen for inclusion based on meeting a minimum threshold of contributors.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) recorded a significant decrease in the crime rate in 2024.

Lawmen attributed this to its proactive law enforcement tactics, community involvement, and extensive surveillance efforts in compliance with Philippine National Police directives.

Police here vowed to sustain their efforts and encouraged the community to continue supporting Pulis Dabawenyo and other law enforcers here to maintain order and reduce and prevent crimes.
