Cops nab motornapper in less than 60 minutes


CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police arrested a suspected motornapper in less than an hour in Libertad, Misamis Oriental on Thursday, Jan. 16.

The Libertad Municipal Police Station received a report from a concerned citizen that a blue Yamaha Sniper motorcycle was stolen in Barangay Lubluban at 12:40 p.m. 

“Acting promptly, police immediately initiated a hot-pursuit operation and coordinated efforts through the Misamis Oriental Tactical Operations Center,” Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Joann N. Navarro said.

The Misamis Oriental 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company established a checkpoint in Barangay Amoros, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental to intercept the suspect.

The suspect, Jun, noticed the checkpoint and fled towards Sitio Simbulan, Barangay Amoros, Libertad. Police chased and caught up with the 32-year-old suspect at around 1:10 p.m.

PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman commended operating units and the community for the arrest of the suspect.

“This arrest highlights PRO-10’s dedication to public safety and our commitment to ensuring justice. We remain steadfast in protecting lives and properties across Northern Mindanao,” De Guzman said.

Jun is under the custody of the Libertad MPS for documentation and filing of cases under Republic Act 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Law of the Philippines).
