In his speech at the media launch of the Open Government Partnership (OGP)-Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting Philippines 2025, Bersamin said the promotion of an open and good governance is a collective effort from the government and its stakeholders.

"Let me stress that the promotion of open government is not the responsibility of the government alone. It is equally part of a collective mission that demands the participation and collaboration of all stakeholders," Bersamin stated on Wednesday, Jan. 15, during the event held at the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) central office in Manila.

"For this reason, therefore, your insights, contributions and commitment are invaluable to creating a more transparent, more accountable and more inclusive government," he added.

The Executive Secretary stressed that with the support and active engagement of every stakeholder, "we can surely pave the way for a brighter and inclusive future where every Filipino has the right and the means to contribute to open and good governance."

He also noted that during the Marcos administration, the Philippine Open Government Partnership was institutionalized through the issuance of Executive Order No. 31 in June 2023 in order to advance transparency and inclusivity in national and local governance processes.

The Palace official recognized the passion and dedication of the government's partners, saying they play a crucial role in shaping a more productive society.

"We recognize the power of your platforms to amplify voices, disseminate vital information and cultivate an informed citizenry," he said.

Bersamin was among the government officials who led the launch of the OGP-Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting Philippines 2025 which is expected to bring together heads of state, government officials, civil society leaders, and policymakers.

The forum taking place on Feb. 5 to 7 aims to facilitate discussions on best practices and innovative solutions to governance challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.
