Historic induction held at The Manila Hotel’s Tent City
At a glance
The JCI Senate Philippines and the JCI Senate Foundation successfully held a historic induction ceremony on Jan. 10, 2025, at the iconic Tent City of The Manila Hotel.
This milestone event marked the induction of Dr. Cecilia La Madrid-Dy as the first female president of the JCI Senate Philippines (JCISP) and Victoriano V. Cruz as the new chairman of the board of trustees of the Philippine Jaycee Senate Foundation (PJFS).
Dr. Cecile Dy was sworn in by former Deputy Speaker, Quezon City Mayor, and JCI World president, Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte, Jr., while Cruz was inducted by JCI World president Victor Jose Luciano. The respective charges to the groups were delivered by 2018 JCI World president Brian Lim for the Foundation and 1984 JCI World president Victor Jose Luciano for the Senate.
Adding luster to the evening were the inspirational messages of Sen. Joseph Victor G. Ejercito, who served as the JCI Philippines president in 1998, former president of the ASEAN JCI Senate Gene Tan, UNESCO Secretary General Anthony Ivan Henares, and keynote speaker TOFIL laureate Dr. Nona Saldana Ricafort.
The elegant affair began with the Signing of Joint and Cooperative Memoranda of Agreement between JCI Senate Philippines, and co-project underwriters ROPALI for Project TOFIL; Palawan Express for Project Kasambahay Kasambuhay; and Firestop Philippines for the various community outreach and environmental projects.
A solemn thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by Fr. Lambert Ramos who lauded and urged the JCI Senate to continue their social responsibility and community efforts. The Processional began with classic performers in various national costumes escorting the Foundation Trustees and the Senate Board of Directors onto the main stage, followed by a very regal entrance of colors and singing of the National Anthem and the JCI Senate Hymn by no less than the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers who also prepared the new, orchestrated arrangement for the JCI Senate march.
Outgoing JCI Senate Pres. Ed Echem was escorted by Maranao dancers as he delivered his valedictory address, while newly inducted Pres. Cecilia Dy was escorted by a bevy of colorful Bambanti dancers, her signature cultural contribution to the province of Isabela which won the Guinness Book of World Records for most number of participants in the thematic costume, and at the same time symbolizes the resilience and tenacity of Isabelenos.
