CEBU CITY – Packs of illegal drugs worth close to P2 million and firearms were seized in separate police operations in Cebu City and Bohol province on Tuesday, April 22.
The bulk of the seized suspected shabu was recovered from an ex-convict who was arrested by operatives of the Mabolo Police Station in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City past 10 p.m.
The suspect was identified as Glenn Suazo Mago, 39.
Police Major Romeo Caacoy Jr., chief of the Mabolo police, said 200 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.3 million were seized from Mago.
Caacoy said Mago's name surfaced in previous anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the arrest of various drug suspects.
Further investigation showed that Mago was a high-value individual capable of selling at least 100 grams of shabu a week, Caacoy said.
After his arrest, Mago mentioned some names who are now the subject of follow-up operations, Caacoy added.
At past 11 p.m. on the same day, a 43-year-old painter was arrested with packs of suspected shabu and unlicensed firearms in Barangay Baogo, Inabanga, Bohol.
Police said 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000, a 9mm submachine gun, and a .22 revolver were seized from Angelo Solis, a resident of Barangay Palo, Loay, Bohol.
Police Col. Arnel Banzon, chief of the Bohol Police Provincial Office, commended the Inabanga police for the suspect's arrest.
“This successful operation should serve as a stern warning to those involved in illegal drug activities that they have no place in Bohol," said Banzon. "We will continue to work hard to protect the community from the menace of illegal drugs," added Banzon.
