Man accused of stealing clothes mauled to death


BACOLOD CITY – A 22-year-old man passed away in a hospital on Monday, April 21, hours after he was allegedly mauled by two relatives who accused him of theft on Sunday night, April 20 in Purok Marapara 1, Barangay Bata here.

Police Capt. Rondyl Tapang of Police Station 3 said the victim identified as Pao-Pao was attacked after he was accused of stealing clothes by 24-year-old Jessa, the live-in partner of his uncle.

Jessa and her 17-year-old brother reportedly ganged up on the victim, who was their neighbor.

Tapang said that a brass knuckle was used during the attack, possibly causing the fatal injuries. The weapon has not been recovered.

Police only learned of the incident on Monday afternoon, prompting a hot pursuit that led to the suspects’ arrest later that day.

Jessa is currently detained at Police Station 3 while her brother has been placed in the custody of the Social Development Center. 

Homicide charges are being prepared against them.
