Allen Dizon portrays three characters in 'Fatherland'

Multi-award-winning actor Allen Dizon has portrayed various characters in films and won accolades for them.

But “Fatherland” gave him challenges he thought he could not hurdle. Allen played three distinct characters in this film, written by another award-winning screenwriter, Roy Iglesias, and directed by multi-awarded director Joel C. Lamangan.

Allen's character, Juan dela Cruz, is suffering from multiple disorders.

The first character of Dizon is a farmer embroiled in a “land grabbing” conflict, which affects his relationship with his wife.

The second character is that of a Muslim with two wives. He is a member of a much-feared terrorist group.

The third character is a homeless gay whistleblower who exposes a corrupt Lady Mayor, protector of Pogo operations,  played by Cherry Pie Picache.

The journey concerns son Iñigo Pascual's search for his missing father.

Allen considers the gay role to be the most challenging of the three. Allen moves like a tough guy.

He worked hard to play swishy, with the help of Direk Joel, who does his Rhoda role in "Batang Quiapo" with flair. With Direk Joel's guidance, Allen was able to deliver comfortably.

Allen has good words about Inigo's performance in "Fatherland."

"He took the acting genes of his father Piolo (Pascual). I'm sure Inigo will make his Papa Piolo proud!" Allen said.

Allen believes that Fatherland is a total package of powerful drama and content. Its relevance in tackling issues like land grabbing, Muslim separatism, and the Chinese Pogo is a significant factor.

Fatherland has a powerhouse cast. In addition to Allen and Inigo, it boasts Cherry Pie Picache, Richard Yap, Angel Aquino, Mercedes Cabral, Ara Davao, Kazel Kinouch, Jim Pebanco, Abed Green, and Rico Barrera.

Bentria Productions and Heaven's Best Entertainment collaborated on "Fatherland."

"Fatherland" opens in cinemas nationwide on April 19.
