Philippine innovation took center stage at the 2025 Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) commended a wave of Filipino inventors and researchers who brought home top honors for their groundbreaking creations.

In a statement, the DOST said Filipino inventors, represented by the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), had “achieved significant success” at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (IEIG).
The DOST noted that the Philippine delegation secured multiple prestigious awards during the expo, which was held from April 9 to 13.
Remarkable achievements
The representatives from the Philippines showcased what the DOST called “remarkable achievements”—bringing home one Gold, three Silver, and one Bronze medal for their innovative technologies.
“This accomplishment highlights the Philippines’ growing strength in developing solutions for global challenges,” the DOST said.
DOST-TAPI’s Science and Technology Promotion for International Contests and Exhibits (SPICE) Program supported the winning inventions.
The invention “A System and Method for Managing Healthcare Services and Networks” by SeeYouDoc Corp. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder Noel Gary Del Castillo received the Gold Award.
“This invention revolutionizes healthcare access by integrating telemedicine, scheduling, e-prescriptions, and payments—connecting patients and providers seamlessly for enhanced healthcare management,” the DOST explained.
The Philippine delegation also secured three Silver medals.
The DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute’s (DOST-ITDI) Continuous Screw Type Salt Washer, represented by DOST-ITDI Director Dr. Annabelle Briones, won a Silver Award.
The DOST described the project as “an innovative mobile system that transforms raw salt into high-purity products directly at the production site, significantly reducing processing time, steps, and costs for local communities.”
Another Silver Award went to the Three-in-One Mobile Salt Crusher, Washer, and Harvester Equipment, also from DOST-ITDI and represented by Oliver Evangelista. It was described as “an efficient and affordable technology that effectively removes impurities from salt, consistently meeting the stringent purity levels required by the food industry.”
A third Silver medal was awarded to Earth Board: Coir-Reinforced Bio-Based High-Density Polyurethane Composite for Structural Panels, represented by Lesstics, Inc. CEO and Founder Kenno Michael Uy.
The DOST described the project as “an eco-friendly material expertly crafted from coconut coir, offering superior insulation, strength, and moisture resistance—presenting a compelling green alternative to traditional construction materials.”
Moreover, HazardHunterPH: Systems and Methods in Conducting Multiple Single-Hazard Assessments, represented by Mabelline Cahulogan of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS), bagged the Bronze Award.
“Developed by the PHIVOLCS team, this user-friendly tool provides instant hazard maps and comprehensive analyses for earthquakes, volcanoes, and other geological events—empowering communities and authorities with critical information for proactive disaster preparedness,” the DOST said.
Philippines’ commitment
According to DOST-TAPI, the delegation’s presence at the IEIG is “truly a reflection” of the Philippines’ long-standing commitment to “cultivate a vibrant innovation ecosystem.”
“By creating a platform for Filipino inventors to showcase their breakthroughs to a global audience, the institute facilitates potential collaborations, technology transfers, and investments that can transform these innovations into tangible benefits for our society,” the DOST said.
DOST-TAPI also reiterated its commitment to remain “steadfast in its mission to champion Filipino innovation, recognizing that the creativity and ingenuity of its people are vital assets in shaping the future.”
