YouTube star Boss Toyo, whose real name is Jayson Luzadas, explained why he begged off from running in the upcoming midterm election.

During a press conference in Bonifacio Global City, Boss Toyo revealed that he received offers for the second nominee position for the Pinoy Ako Partylist and as councilor for District 1 in Manila. However, he declined both offers.

(It's not for me yet. I don't know when I don't know if I'll run. But for me, it's not really on my mind yet. At first, I thought, I could do it. Then, of course, I don't know anything at first. I don't want to go through the process of being popular or being kind or helpful)," Boss Toyo said.

Boss Toyo stated that running for public office requires significant effort and courage from community members.

(This is just my opinion. It is not enough to sit in any position if you do not know how to run it. That is difficult because you will take the lead for your people. Governance, if you are at the national level. If you're in Congress, you'll make laws. How will you do that if you started as an influencer?)," he added.

Motivated by his desire to assist others, Boss Toyo was encouraged by those around him to pursue public office.

"Actually lahat sila pinapatakbo ako, ako lang yung nag-beg off kasi ayokong maging katawa-tawa. (They all convinced me to run, while I begged off because I didn't want to appear ridiculous. I just didn't want to hear that I didn't know anything)," he said.
