Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate Benhur Abalos has gained the endorsement of a key poltician in Mindanao roughly a month before the mid-term elections.
Expressing his support of Abalos' Senate bid on Tuesday, April 8 was reelectionist Misamis Occidental Govenor Henry Oaminal. The governor and his fellow local officials vouched for Abalos' integrity.
The administration bet visited the province the same morning and was warmly welcomed by local residents. He made a presentation on his platform of government and priority legislative agenda during the program for the Asenso Misamis headed by the Oaminal.
In his speech, Abalos expressed gratitude to the local folk and vowed to serve as the voice of the people on the various programs and projects needed to further improve the economic growth in the province.
The former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary's legislative agenda included measures for the welfare of farmers and fishermen, health care and education.
Abalos discussed his intention to replicate the success story of Mandaluyong City during his time as mayor. He said that from being one of the smallest local government units (LGU), Mandaluyong turned into the country’s rising economic tiger.
He also tackled his experiences in successfully tackling Mandaluyong's mass housing problem; improving healthcare, including nutrition for pregnant women and children; and even the education issues.
