BACOLOD CITY - A 33-year-old farmer was fatally shot in Sitio 5, Barangay 11, Gawahon, Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, April 2.

The victim was identified as Jonhee of Barangay 11, Victorias City.
Police Lt. Col. Terence Paul Santa Ana, Victorias City police chief, said the victim was in a covered court when three armed persons arrived and approached him to confirm his identity.
The perpetrators shot the victim in the head and body and fled.
Recovered from the crime scene were three fired cartridge cases and a .45 caliber slug.
Santa Ana said the victim was scheduled to attend a hearing in the barangay hall over a land dispute when he was killed.
Police are looking into the land dispute or insurgency as possible motives in the attack.
Santa Ana said they already have persons of interest.
The victim allegedly killed his sibling last December due to land conflict and has a sibling reportedly active in the armed struggle.
Police said that the victim’s family is cooperating with the investigation and have given their statements.
