A NEW community port was inaugurated by Transportation Secretary Vince  Dizon in Zamboanga City on March 22.

The port has a reinforced concrete pier, reclamation and backup area, and waiting shed for passengers.

In a social media post, the Department of Transportation said the new sea linkage provided by the new port in Tigtabon Island is expected to ensure better accessibility and movement for fishermen, passengers, and students.

“Para sa inyo po ito at sa inyong mga anak kasi ang kabuhayan ninyo na nanggagaling sa dagat, dapat talaga suportahan ito ng national government,” Dizon said.

Dizon assured stakeholders that seven more community ports will be built to help fishing communities here.

The inauguration was also attended by House Majority Leader Zamboanga City Rep. Mannix Dalipe and Mayor John Dalipe here.

Meanwhile, Mayor Dalipe and Rep. Dalipe turned over 76 Transfer of Certificates of Title to Dizon for the new Zamboanga International Airport project at the Zamboanga City Hall last Saturday.

These land titles represent 70 percent of the properties procured by the city government from land owners whose properties are located at the new airport site.

“I was informed by the City Planning Officer that the remaining 30 percent is almost done, with only a few expropriation cases left,” said Dizon.

There are 393 properties to be procured for the airport project.

Dizon said that with this development, construction for the new airport might move forward from 2027 to 2026.

The Dalipes thanked Dizon for his efforts in pursuing the project and expressed optimism that the airport will benefit residents here.
