Javi and Juan Gomez de Liaño delivered in their separate games as the Seoul SK Knights and the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters extended their respective win streak to three in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Friday, March 21.
Both former stars of the University of the Philippines in the UAAP, Javi, for his part, impressed anew as he tallied 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists in 23 minutes of action to help the Red Boosters in a 91-70 demolition of the Busan KCC Egis.
With his scoring, Javi recorded his second double-digit output as a Red Booster. Deonte Burton (18), Park Ji-Hoon (16), and Byun Jun-hyung (12) also led Anyang’s offense that kept them ahead throughout their contest.
It marked Anyang’s third consecutive victory to boost its tally to 20-27, tying with the Wonju DB Promy at sixth place.
Busan, on the other hand, suffered its back-to-back losses to settle for a 16-31 win-loss mark at eight spot.
Meanwhile, the league-leading Knights thwarted the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, 85-79, for their third straight victory.
Juan chalked up seven points, three rebounds and four assists – a stellar statline for the erstwhile Maroon who missed numerous games for Seoul since early this year.
His Filipino counterpart, Migs Oczon, once College of Saint Benilde star guard, had two points, two rebounds and one assist for Ulsan.
The Knights stayed at the top as they held a 39-9 slate while the Mobis Phoebus sustained their 19th loss against 28 victories – one win ahead of JD Cagulangan and the Suwon KT Sonicboom – at third.
