Fifteen families affected by a fire in Barangay Longos received food packs and other assistance from the Malabon City government on Thursday, March 13.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, along with Philippine Red Cross-Malabon Chapter Chairman and former Congressman Ricky Sandoval, and officials from the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), led the distribution of the food packs.
“Agarang tulong po sa mga naapektuhan ng sunog dito sa Barangay Longos ang inihanda at inihatid sa kanila. Inalam din po natin ang kanilang mga pangangailangan matapos ang hindi inaasahang insidenteng ito (Immediate assistance was prepared and delivered to those affected by the fire in Barangay Longos. We also assessed their needs following this unexpected incident to ensure they receive the necessary support),” she said.
The distributed food packs included rice, noodles, coffee, water, and canned goods, as well as hygiene kits and non-food items such as pillows, blankets, and mats.
CSWDD personnel also provided hot meals and set up tents at the Barangay Longos Multi-Purpose Hall and the Longos Disaster Building to accommodate the families.
The city government assured that financial assistance will also be given to all affected families.
Authorities reminded residents to practice fire safety measures, such as unplugging electronic devices before leaving their homes, avoiding illegal electrical connections, and keeping flammable materials out of children's reach.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started at 3:45 a.m. and was extinguished at 6:52 a.m.
