CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police apprehended the fourth most wanted person in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Calabarzon) region on Sunday, March 9.

Police Regional Office 4-A Director Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas identified the suspect as Jason, 32.
The suspect is wanted for carnapping and estafa and was arrested in Barangay Balintawak, Lipa City, Batangas.
Lucas commended lawmen for their achievement.
“This significant success showcases the dedication of law enforcement agencies through careful planning and execution of operations essential for apprehending high-profile criminals, while also highlighting the crucial role of citizens, whose cooperation in information sharing and community safety initiatives has been vital,” said Lucas.
The suspect is detained at the temporary custodial facility of the Batangas City police.
Drowning
LIAN, Batangas – A 63-year-old man drowned in a deep well in Sitio Mountain Dew, Barangay Matabungkay here on Friday morning, March 7.
Police identified the victim as Mateo Bascuguin.
Investigation said the victim was fetching water from the deep well when he accidentally slipped and drowned.
An 11-year-old student drowned in Aliw Falls, Barangay San Jose, Luisiana, Laguna, on Friday.
Police identified the victim as Randy Jay Cada of Cavinti, Laguna.
Investigation said the victim dived from a rock formation 13 to 14 feet high. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Fire
A disabled young boy was killed in an hour-long fire that hit his house in Barangay Sulib, Pangil, Laguna on Friday morning, March 7.
Arson investigators said an unattended candle started the fire.
The fire was put out at 10 a.m. and the victim’s body was discovered during mopping-up operations.
Murder
A 49-year-old balut (fermented duck egg) vendor was gunned down in Barangay Pagsangahan, San Francisco, Quezon on Friday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Marlon de Chavez.
Investigation said the victim was preparing balut for sale when the suspect Singkit appeared and shot him.
De Chavez died on the spot and the suspect fled onboard a motorcycle. Police are hunting the suspect.
Police recovered four empty caliber .45 shells in the crime scene. The suspect’s motive is personal grudge, police added.
