ANTIPOLO CITY, Philippines – February 19, 2025 – Even after Valentine’s Day, love shouldn’t stop at flowers and grand gestures. At Kanlungan ni Maria, a home for the elderly in Antipolo, Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery platform,  extended its Deliver Care initiative to bring lasting support to a sector too often forgotten—the elderly.

More than a one-day celebration, this effort showed that care can be delivered where it’s truly needed.

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting underrepresented communities, Lalamove partnered with Kanlungan ni Maria to provide wheelchairs and pillows to improve the daily living conditions of the elders.

But beyond donations, Lalamove delivered something just as meaningful—recognition for a community often left behind.

"This year, we chose to celebrate Valentine’s differently, this time with the elders at Kanlungan ni Maria as part of our Deliver Care initiatives,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines.

“We’re glad that Lalamove has become a top-of-mind for donation deliveries and even relief operations, aligned with our goal of moving things that matter. Through this Valentine’s initiative, we wanted to show more Deliver Care opportunities in simpler occasions, like how we celebrated, gave gifts, and donated wheelchairs and pillows to the elderly, to hopefully prolong the care delivered today.”

An Unexpected Delivery of Love

The seniors at Kanlungan ni Maria thought it was just another day. Then, in a moment of surprise, a special Lalamove delivery arrived — boxes of roses from Flowerstore.ph, alongside wheelchairs and pillows, sent as Valentine’s gifts to the residents.

But the celebration didn’t stop there. SPIT known for its interactive and unscripted comedy performances, led a series of lively games and activities, filling the room with laughter and shared experiences. Seniors, caregivers, and Lalamove volunteers became part of the moment, embracing the joy of human connection.

Lalamove’s gesture was welcomed by Sr. Sonia Paballa, a member of the Sisters of the Holy Cross from Kanlungan ni Maria Home for the Aged.

"We are beyond grateful that Lalamove chose to surprise our elder residents. The wheelchairs and pillows will surely give them greater comfort, but more than that, it’s choosing to spend time with them that we appreciate. It was beyond heartwarming to see them engaged and laughing, and that’s what made this day extra special for them,” she shared.

A Wider Circle of Care

Lalamove’s Valentine’s outreach went beyond Antipolo, bringing aid to elderly communities in Novaliches and Pasay, where mobility and daily care remain significant challenges. In partnership with the Coalition of Services for the Elderly (COSE) and the Confederation of Older Persons Associations in the Philippines (COPAP), Lalamove provided essential supplies to sustain these organizations’ advocacy for marginalized senior citizens.

In Pasay City, Lalamove extended its efforts to the Home for the Golden Gays, a community providing shelter and support for elderly LGBTQ+ individuals. With 21 residents relying on community-driven aid, Lalamove’s donation helped address their daily mobility and care needs, ensuring that elderly individuals from all walks of life have access to support and connection.

Keep the Support Going

Kanlungan ni Maria, COSE, COPAP, and the Golden Gays are home to just a fraction of the over 9 million senior citizens in the Philippines.

With mobility issues affecting a large portion of this sector, Lalamove is stepping in through Deliver Care to provide meaningful support where it’s needed most.
