MORE, Negros Power eye MIESCOR partnership


ILOILO CITY – MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) and sister company Negros Power is eyeing a partnership with a subsidiary of the Manila Electric Co. to modernize facilities in Iloilo and Negros Occidental.

Key executives of MORE Power and Negros Power led by President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Castro met the Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corp. (MIESCOR) to discuss the matter.

“MIESCOR’s expertise in the power sector is highly respected. We believe that their involvement would be invaluable as we expand and modernize our operations in Iloilo and Negros provinces,” said Castro.

MORE Power is looking into tapping MIESCOR’s expertise in engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance, and project management services.

“We see a tremendous opportunity to work alongside MORE Power in expansion plans for Iloilo and ongoing rehabilitation in Central Negros,” said MIESCOR President Richard Ochava in a statement.

If the partnership pushes through, MORE Power and MIESCOR will create the Utility Attachment Office to institutionalize the underground cabling project that has started in Iloilo City by strengthening coordination with telephone and cable companies.

Aside from engineering and construction, MIESCOR Chief Operations Officer Wilfredo Bernardo said they can provide comprehensive training for MORE Power linemen.

Also present during the meeting were MORE Power COO Bailey del Castillo and MIESCOR Business Unit Head Sam Montoya.
