CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – Three individuals were killed and six were injured in a nine-vehicle collision on the national highway in Barangay San Nicolas here on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 16.

Police Master Sgt. Bryan A. Naungayan, Candon police duty investigator, identified the fatalities as Dandilo Galigaro, passenger of a Honda CRV; Rodrigo Callos, driver of a Rusi motorcycle; and Claude Joshua, 28, driver of a Skygo motorcycle.
The six injured were Louie Garnace, 57, driver of the Honda CRV; Rolando Madarang, 55, driver of a Honda motorcycle; Expedito Olivo Angal 55, tricycle driver, his passenger Joshua Peralta, 24; Ronald Espanto, 32, motorcycle driver; and Clavel Narbasa, 63, pedestrian.
Investigation said Garnace lost control of his vehicle and bumped the motorcycles driven by Callos and Madarang.
Madarang’s motorcycle rammed a tricycle driven by Roger Agonoy, who was unhurt.
The CRV continued to move and bumped Joshua’s motorcycle, Angal’s tricycle, Espanto’s motorcycle, a Toyota Innova driven by Eirene Mary Jemina Valdez who was unhurt, and a parked vehicle.
Nine persons were injured and taken to the hospital where three of them were declared dead.
Investigation said Garnace was allegedly drunk.
Naungayan said follow-up investigation is ongoing.
