Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) head Roderick Tongol led the ceremony for the new emergency response app.
In this day and age, where almost everyone has a cellphone and access to the internet, we have decided to bring our high-quality, honest services closer to the people. We have launched the Malabon AHON 24/7 Alert App, which will speed up coordination and collaboration among us Malabuenos, especially during times of disaster. So, let's download and use it because the local government is always ready to ensure your safety and well-being),” Sandoval said.
Tongol explained that the app provides residents with direct access to city services, including medical emergencies, safety and security, fire response, traffic enforcement, engineering, and waste management.
The app is currently available for download on Google Play Store and will soon be launched for iOS users. It offers features such as contacting emergency hotline numbers, accessing city ordinances, viewing the police watchlist, and receiving updates on traffic and weather conditions.
Once downloaded, residents must complete a registration process by submitting a photo, a valid ID, and providing their personal and contact details, including phone number and email. After submission, the registration will be reviewed and approved within 24 hours.
Tongol described the app as an upgraded version of the previous service, "Let's Connect, TXT MJS."
"Ito ay mas pinabilis 'yung communication. Kasi dati puro text lang 'yung pinapadala natin diba magpadala ng picture at the same time ng message and naka-Geo tag 'yung location po para alam kaagad nung mga responder at saka ng pinapadalhan mong department [kung] nasaan ka at madali nilang matunton 'yung problema. Ngayon naka-tag na agad (This has greatly sped up communication. Before, we were only sending text messages, right? But now, you can send pictures along with the message, and the location is automatically geo-tagged so responders and the department receiving the message can immediately know where you are and easily locate the problem. Before, with just text messages, there would be back-and-forth exchanges, and they'd have to ask for more details. But now, everything is tagged right away)," he added.
The MDRRMO head also mentioned that the city’s Command and Control Center and departments could now utilize a dashboard that simplifies tracking requests and reports from residents through the app.
City Administrator Alexander Rosete encouraged all Malabuenos to download the app for easier access to services.
We encourage all Malabuenos to download the Malabon AHON 24/7 application because it improves and speeds up services for you. No matter where you are in our city, we can easily know and address your needs. This is one of the steps our Mayor Jeannie Sandoval is taking to fulfill her promise of strengthening programs for the safety and order of every citizen in Malabon)," he said.
In February 2023, the city government launched TXT MJS, which resolved 96.9% of the 15,332 reports from residents.
The most received requests were for ambulance transfers, reports of obstructions on main roads affecting traffic, inquiries about the Malabon AHON Blue Card, and environmental and health concerns.
