Manila City Administrator Bernie Ang blasted what he branded as "desperate attempts and deception" by the camp rivaling Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, citing recent fake surveys which he said are also aimed at insulting the intelligence of Manila residents.
Ang specifically cited the recent posts on social media purporting that the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) and the Manila City Hall employees have done a survey with the same mayoral candidate supposedly leading by a wide margin.
"The disparity or difference shown on the fake surveys is so ridiculous that no one in his right mind will believe them. This is a clear sign of desperation on the part of our political foes and we take this to mean that they have accepted defeat this early," Ang stressed.
Ang said that the PLM, for one, has vehemently denied the existence of such a survey, while Manila City Hall employees are also asking among themselves where the purported survey came from.
The city administrator said the city employees will never get involved in politics since they are prohibited from doing so, adding that the ones posting such surveys that never took place are also putting the employees in a bad light.
He also stressed that for the longest time, the PLM and the City Hall employees have always been insulated from politics.
"Legitimate surveys are based on mathematics which is an exact science. It cannot be invented. Only the one releasing it can fabricate to his favor," Ang said.
In a statement, the PLM said it upholds the commitment to being a non-partisan academic situation that prioritizes integrity, academic excellence and the well-being
of its community members.
