A man wanted in Benguet for large-scale syndicated illegal recruitment was arrested by members of the Parañaque City Police in Pasay City on Jan. 25.
The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspect was identified as alias “Ismael,” 40. He was arrested at around 6:40 p.m. at a condominium in Pasay City.
The police said Ismael was listed as the Top 6 most wanted person on the regional level for allegedly masterminding fraudulent recruitment, preying on individuals with false promises of overseas employment.
The arrest of the suspect stemmed from two warrants of arrest issued by two separate courts in Benguet for large-scale and syndicated illegal recruitment, as defined under Republic Act (R.A.) 8042 (Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995), amended by R.A. 10022, in relation to R.A. 10175 issued by Judge Daniel Dazon Mangallay, of Buguias, Benguet Regional Trial Court, Branch 64.
The other warrant of arrest for illegal recruitment under the first paragraph of Section 6 of R.A. 8042, as amended by R.A. 10022 was issued by Judge Leody Malillin Opolinto, of the La Trinidad, Benguet Regional Trial Court, Branch 62. Both warrants were issued with no bail recommended, underscoring the severity of the charges.
Ismael was detained at the Parañaque City Police custodial facility for standard booking procedures.
