Commodore Ludovico Librilla Jr., commander of Coast Guard District Southern Visayas, said that one of the stranded dolphins was dead when authorities responded to the area.

The PCG coordinated with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Bantay Dagat to conduct gender identification and determine measurements on the dolphins.

Seven dolphins were released back to the middle of the sea while the carcass of dead dolphin was buried. Authorities are  probing the cause of death.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office suspected that they were swept into the area probably because of low tide. It said that dolphins are not new in the city because Bais has a sandbar for dolphin watching.
