Laborer stabs septuagenarian dead


BACOLOD CITY – A 49-year-old laborer allegedly stabbed a 73-year-old man to death during an altercation in Barangay Inolingan, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Police Lt. Arnolfo Robles, deputy chief of the Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Antonio Gavaran.

Robles said that the victim allegedly made fun of the 49-year-old suspect after he  lost a game.

The suspect retaliated and the victim got irritated, prompting him to  punch the suspect.

The suspect got a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.

Gavaran was declared dead in a hospital and the suspect surrendered to the police. The murder weapon was recovered.

The suspect faces homicide charges.
