BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office denied that a 23-year-old woman was kidnapped in Barangay Banago here on Wednesday night, Jan. 22.

A video of the incident showed a group of persons taking the woman and shoving her into a red car went viral on social media.
Police Capt. Rondyl Tapang, head of Police Station 3, said they immediately responded to the area and conducted an investigation.
He said that they were able to get in touch with the family of the woman on Thursday, Jan. 23, and were able to confirm that she is safe.
Tapang, however, did not elaborate about the identities of the individuals in the video and their connection to the woman.
Police were unable to trace the source of the original video but reminded the public to be responsible in posting any content on social media.
Tapang said that similar incidents should be reported to authorities for immediate action.
