The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed on Tuesday, Jan. 21, that Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy is currently confined at the Rizal Medical Center (RMC) after complaining of difficulty in breathing while detained at the Pasig City Jail.

In an interview, BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said Quiboloy was transported by the BJMP Pasig City Jail Dormitory personnel on Saturday, Jan. 18, after the facility’s physician recommended that Quiboloy be brought to the nearest government hospital.

He noted that the attending physician at RMC further recommended Quiboloy’s hospital confinement at another hospital due to insufficient facilities.

“The initial diagnosis by the hospital is community acquired pneumonia,’’ Bustinera stated.

Following the physician’s advice of Quiboloy’s transfer to another hospital, Bustinera assured the public that Quiboloy remains under BJMP custody and that strict security is in place while in hospital confinement.

With speculations on the possible preferential treatment for high-profile inmates like Quiboloy, Bustinera shrugged this claim off with the assurance that “Mr. Quiboloy will be treated like any other PDL (person deprived of liberty), in accordance with the law and jail regulations.’’

Bustinera pointed out that BJMP chief Director Ruel Rivera reminded that there should be no “VIP (very important person)’’ treatment, stressing that all should be treated like “ordinary PDLs.
